The Weather Outside was Frightful…

Winter temperatures can make it challenging to keep boats warm and dry. As many of you have experienced, electric heaters may not always be the most effective solution. Local marine supply
stores offer a variety of boat-specific heating options, and their knowledgeable staff can help you select equipment that best meets your needs while operating efficiently. They also carry low wattage dehumidifiers, which can be very helpful in reducing moisture. One of the most effective ways to combat dampness is proper ventilation—opening the boat whenever possible and ensuring consistent airflow.
Electric heaters should never be relied upon as the sole method for keeping a boat dry, especially if a heater is left running while you are away for several days. This can significantly increase electrical usage, particularly with thermostatically controlled heaters. This leads to questions we have received regarding electrical charges. The Marina has had several calls from tenants surprised by recent electric bills. We are always happy to check your meter for accuracy; however, managing electrical usage is the responsibility of each tenant. Please also ensure that your boat’s wiring is properly installed and that you are using the correct electrical cord. Check plugs for corrosion and confirm that all connections are secure. As always, feel free to contact the office if you have any questions or concerns.

Restroom/Shower Etiquette

The Grand Marina restroom and shower facilities are shared by all tenants and their guests. The facility can become unsightly to the next person if we do not use some etiquette.
Please use the receptacles for your discarded items and trash. Please be mindful of the time you are using the shower if there is someone waiting to use it. Please report issues that affect the use of the facilities (such as clogged drains). As always, if you have constructive suggestions please let us know by dropping in the suggestion box located at the entrance of the bathroom. Thank you.

Information Update

If you have changed your address or phone number, please contact the Harbor Office to provide us with the new information. Also, we are now able to send invoices electronically so if you would like to sign up, make sure we have your updated email address. It is very important that we are able to contact you, especially in the event of an emergency with your vessel.
